Fluttering and Flirty

Last weekend marked the last weekend of the summer that The Chicago Botanic Gardens featured the butterfly tent before the winter.  I went to go see the numerous variations of butterflies they have from many different countries.  Did you know they like to eat fruit that is past ripe?  Neither did I! but they like the sugar water.  I guess we both have something in common, a sweet tooth.  I tried to capture all my favorites from the day, but some of them were constantly fluttering around and I was not fast enough.  There are a few pictures from the vegetable garden and other flowers that I enjoyed.  The tree is a pear or apple tree that they groom to grow horizontally to save space.

The Highline

Diagonal from Bubby’s is The Highline which we explored after brunch.  It is a beautiful escape to the city and besides Central Park probably the most green you will see in the city.  Needless to say we still had our luggage with us and tired out fast, but we still managed to see The Statue of Liberty through the little nook we found almost by accident as if we were in the secret garden.  My favorite spot is the steps that look out to the street where I am pictured looking out.  I love the contrast of the leisurely people and the cars whizzing by in the background.  After this be headed to our pad not too far away in meatpacking.
